Porto midfielder Alan Varela is a potential replacement for Atletico Madrid as they look to add strength to their midfield.
Spanish outlet Relevo reported on Friday that Atletico Madrid are planning to sign FC Porto’s Argentine midfielder Alan Varela in January.
According to reports, Argentine coach Diego Simeone has asked the club to re-sign Varela after last year’s attempt failed, with the 23-year-old midfielder moving from Boca Juniors to FC Porto in the summer of 2023 for €12m.
Argentine midfielder Varela is Simeone’s first choice, although the Rojiblancos have also been linked with Mallorca’s Samuel Costa and Getafe’s Luis Milla.
