Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has backed his old club to continue their fine form and win the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners are set to visit Crystal Palace this Saturday, with the team currently on 30 points from 16 matches, six points behind leaders Liverpool and having played one more game.
Parlour was part of the 1997/98 title-winning side, which came in February when they trailed Manchester United by 12 points but managed to overtake them and he has backed his younger players to follow in their footsteps.
The Gunners currently sit in third place, six points behind the Reds, who also have a game in hand. Mikel Arteta’s north Londoners fell agonisingly short last season in their quest for a first league title since 2003/04, finishing just two points behind Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering Manchester City.
“They have the experience from last year that they know the team can go an unbeaten season and challenge for the title,” Parlour told Sports Mole.
“The important thing is that Arsenal don’t slip up in this chaotic period and if they are six points behind in January, they can be confident of winning the title this season.”
“For us in 1997/98, the team had ทางเข้า ufabet a good run of form. Including a great win over Manchester United. Which made us believe we could win the title. Arsenal had to go to Liverpool and win to win the title.”
