Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Southampton could be forced to sell Tyler Dibling if they are relegated to the Championship next season.
The 18-year-old winger has been a key player for the Saints this season, despite the team’s poor performances. His individual form has been highly praise, leading to reports that several top teams in the league, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham, are interest in him.
Although former boss Russell Martin previously said during his time in charge that Dibling would not be leaving, Brown believes Southampton may have to sell if they fail to retain their Premier League status next season.
“It’s okay if Russell Martin says that, but I know what it’s like,” Brown told Football Insider. “When you get relegate, let’s say it’s like that, you have to cut a lot of money and sometimes that means losing your best players.”
“That’s because you can’t pay the wages they’re asking for, and the offers that come in will benefit the club in other ways. You lose a lot of income if you get relegate and you have to find a way to replace it.”
“When you have a young player with a high value, there are always teams interest, like Manchester United or Newcastle, who think, ‘Okay, we’ll take him’. You end up trying to cut costs while the player’s agent tries to raise money.”
“The outcome is that for โปรโมชั่น ufabet the good of the club, the team will let him go. So whether they want to sell the player or not, it’s not in their hands anymore. The team could be force to sell. I think that’s the situation if Southampton were to be relegate.”
